The works of American writers are one of the most comprehensive pages in the history of the Ukrainian literary translation of the 1920's and 1930's, and especially by Jack London. According to the number of published Ukrainian-language translations in the 1920-30s, it can be called the most beloved foreign writer of the contemporary Ukrainian reader. The appearance of a complete collection of works of 30 volumes was preceded by separate editions of London's stories translated by Sophia Kulikovna, Sergei Wilkhovy, Andrei Nikovsky, Nina Dubrovskaya, Katerina Dzhunkivska and I. Popova.

During 1927-1930 Kyiv publishing house "Syayvo" released a complete collection of works by Jack London, edited by Oswald Burgardt (24 vols, 1932 issued 27th volume). The translations were joined by: Dmytro and Maria Lisichenko, Kateryna Djunkivska, Ivan and Maxim Rylsky, Katerina Koryakina and Veronika Gladka, Veronika Chernyakhivska, Lydia Vsevolzhskaya and Panteleimon Kovalev, Maria Vizmitina, Fedir Yatsina, Volodymyr Trotsina, Konstantin Shmygovsky, Olga Kosach-Krivnyuk, Anna Kasyanenko, Nina Dubrovskaya and Galina Yar, Ada Magnis and Sergey Zelenetsky, Ivan Volynets and others.

In parallel with the volumes of the complete collection, published individual editions of the writer's works, in particular, the novel "Heart of the Three" was published in the translation of Nikolay Ivanov. Some of these editions were subsequently republished. Thus, the novel "White tooth" in the translation of Veronika Gladka and Katerina Koryakina was reprinted in 1939 and 1957, the novel "Martin Eden" in the translation of Maria Ryabova was reprinted already in 1954.


The novel "The Moon Valley" in 1927 translated talented Ukrainian poet and translator Veronika Chernyakhivska. Thanks to the brilliant translation of the novel was reissued in 1971 at the Jack Twelve London. In addition to the novel, V. Chernyakhivska translated his story for children. "Vovk Rudko" and "The Mystery of Small Kish" came out in a separate edition.
